Jerry Brown called for state agencies to cancel unnecessary out-of-state travel in light of the state’s ongoing fiscal problems, the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine told Brown that all its impending trips — including to Australia, Japan, Paris and Amsterdam — were “mission critical.”
In fact they were, in CIRM’s view, virtually a matter of life and death.
